I have created my first avatar at www.voki.com. Using avatars are a great way to engage learners and gain their attention in a lesson. They could also be used to introduce subjects to students. You could use an avatar of Albert Einstein to introduce a Physics topic. Voki avatars could also be used to occupy students attention for a few minutes to prepare another part of a lesson.

My initial Voki seems to not be loading for me anymore which is unfortunate so I have created a second avatar on 1/5/2010. If my first avatar loads it should look like this:

I've learnt an important lesson when using technology for teaching which is to plan a back up just in case something goes wrong. Today's technology is incredible when it works right but you never know when something might go wrong.

  1. Lol, good use of the Voki Andrew. You can't help but say the last line. A great teaching technique!

  2. It appears my first avatar may not work. Looking at the Voki help area(http://forums.voki.com/posts/list/67.page) I don't think this is isolated to just me.

I have created a second avatar and will see how this one works out.
